The two biogeochemical cycles which depend directly on photosynthesis and work together are carbon dioxide and oxygen cycles.

During photosynthesis, in green plants, light energy is captured to be used as a source for the conversion of water, carbon dioxide and minerals into oxygen and other energy-rich organic compounds.

The energy produced from photosynthesis is carried out by plants millions of years ago and is responsible for the fossil fuels which sustains the powers the industrial society.
