We know that the coordinates of mid point (x,y) between any two points (a,b) and (c,d) on a line segment is given by :-


x=(a+c)/(2)\\\\ y=(b+d)/(2)

Similarly , the coordinates of the midpoint of the line segment with endpoints (1, –6) and (–3, 4) will be


x=(-3+1)/(2)=(-2)/(2)=-1\\\\y=(-6+4)/(2)=(-2)/(2)=-1

Hence, the midpoint f the line segment with endpoints (1, –6) and (–3, 4) is (-1,-1).
