A code used to identify and authenticate a person or organization sending data over a network is called digital certificate.
This electronic document is used to identify an individual, a server, a company, or some other entity and authenticates the Web credentials of the sender and lets the recipient of an encrypted message know that the data is from a trusted source.. The code is assigned by a certificate authority such as VeriSign and includes a public key for encryption.
