Using my makeshift coordinate plane (where every two squares is a multiple of 2), you can see that there is a distance of 4 units between each coordinate,
A
to
B
to
C
to
D
. Because of this information, you can use the area formula for a rectangle:
A =
l * w
:
A = l * w
A = 4 * 4
A = 16 square units or 16 units²

You first have to find the length of each side.
AB=4
BC=4
CD=4
AD=4
Since this is a quadrilateral, two sides will have the same length, in this case, they all do so you can pick any two sides.
4(4)=16.
