Both the Ottoman empire and Mughal empire used architecture to legitimize their power. The two societies legitimized their rule by building large and beautiful architecture that reflected the religions of their empire. Their architecture borrowed from both Islamic and European artistic traditions. It included minarets, domes, pavilions and fountains.
