interpret 1 as 1/1.
need common denominator to subtract fractions
multiply 1/1 numerator and denomiantor by 4 to get 4/4 then we can subtract

4/4 - 1/1 = 3/4

I just want to know what 1-1/4 is. Can anyone help?
