Jenny has a degree in social work and is looking for her first job out of college. It is most important to her that she have a job that allows her to help people in need and will help her move up in her career. It is also important to her that she gets paid enough money to pay off her student loan. Jenny does not have a car, so she would like to be able to get to work by bike. Which of the following jobs would best fit into Jenny's career plan and why?

A. A part-time internship at a women's crisis center; the job is close enough to bike to but would not pay enough to pay off Jenny's student loan. It would be good career experience, however, and Jenny would have time to work at a restaurant to pay off her loan.
B. A secretary for a construction company; the job pays enough for Jenny to pay off her student loan and it is biking distance from her home. However, the job would not allow her to help people in need.
C. A social worker for a community outreach program; the job pays well and would be good for Jenny's career but would require Jenny to get a car. The cost of buying a car would make it difficult for Jenny to pay off her student loan.
D. A guidance counselor at a middle school; the school is biking distance from Jenny's home and pays enough so that Jenny can pay off her student loan. However, there is not much opportunity for career growth.

Remark
If Jenny takes option A by a month later between people's problems and her late nights working, she's going to be completely worn out, but her student loan will begin to get paid off. That's a plus.

If she takes B she does not get the career fulfillment that she wants. No job is perfect and that student loan is like a massive weight around her neck. She could do volunteer work on the weekends.

C is completely out of the question. She's piling debt on debt. If she meets with one of life's catastrophes, she will be in real trouble. C is not an option at all.

D
D to me is an option. Working with kids, she will discover, is career advancement enough. If she get's tenure, she's set.

Based on just what is in the question and nothing more, I would pick D. If you are allowed to add circumstances then B is a good choice. Depends on what kind of questions you had before. I'll stick with D, but it depends on what your marker is like. A machine is merciless and expects only one answer. A person might let you say something and give you credit for what you say.

D<<<< answer.
