On The Magic School Bus, you find yourself traveling from Earth to the Moon. It is approximately 240 million miles. Once there, you realize you must turn 90 degrees and travel to an asteroid on a collision course with Earth! This part of your journey is 400 million miles. Once on the asteroid, you listen to Aerosmith, drill down to set the explosive, and then fly back to Earth. What is your distance back to Earth?

the distance is about 466.5 million miles back to earth.
the way you figure this out is using pythagorean theorem which is a²+b²=c²
replace a with 240 and b with 400
240²+400²=c²
57600+160000=c²
217600=c²
√217600
which is about 466.47
