What role does the infinitive phrase play in this sentence? alexander the great built a city to honor bucephalus, his favorite war horse?

Let's break the sentence structure down.
Alexander is the noun, built is the verb,city is the direct object, to honor is the infinitive phrase. So my guess is that the infinitive phrase's role is the adjective. I hope this is right. Have a good day!
