The role of hematopoietic growth factors is to influence hemocytoblasts to give rise to specific formed elements and reduce the severity of anemia. In addition, it also decrease transfusion requirements in patients with cancer and it cause differentiation of stem cells toward a particular cell type, inducing the proliferation of cells and by favoring maturation of the cells.
