1 -3x = x + 3
-1 -1

-3x = x + 2
-x -x

-4x = 2
/-4 /-4

x =
(-1)/(2)

1 - 3x = x + 3 |subtract 1 from both sides

-3x = x + 2 |subtract x from both sides

-4x = 2 |divide both sides by (-4)

x = 2/-4

x = -0.5
