Answer: He searched for a way to end suffering

Before Siddartha Guatama became enlightened and was the Buddha, he was a prince who lived a lavish life. His father received a prophesy that his son will either become the greatest general or the greatest monk/teacher. So his father sheltered him from all the suffering I the world. When the prince left the castle walls one day and saw the sick and poor people suffering. He realized he needed to help end it. This leading him to this realization and starting the path to become ”the buddah”.
