The two leaders called on the world to witness the horrors of communism, in their historic visit to the Berlin wall. They symbolized the war as the evidence of oppression and totalitarian regime.
while Kennedy did not call for the tearing down of the war, abruptly, 24 years later when Reagan visited, he precisely challenged Gorbachev to tear down the wall as a sign of his commitment to the free world system.
