The 2008 presidential election represented a major turning point in U.S politics because an African American was elected president of the United States for the first time. Barrack Obama was overwhelmingly voted for on the Democrat platform and this represented a turning point in race relations in the U.S.

African American president who was elected was Barrack Obama who also was Kenyan-American as his father was a Kenyan who had come to USA during the famous Kennedy airlifts.
