The chemical produced is ATP (adenosine triphosphate). Energy is released from this molecule when it gets hydrolysed into ADP and an inorganic phosphate molecule and the bond between a phosphate and the ATP is broken (which releases lots of energy). It is formed from ADP by adding an inorganic phosphate molecule to it. This is called phosphorylation.
