Became more violent--as the war grew, so did the protests

In 1968, the biggest draft year and the Tet Offensive, the protests became widespread and violent. The protest at the Democratic Convention was met with police violence. In 1970, protesters at Kent State were gunned down by the Ohio National Guard.
