Because the computer drive needs everything like files, data, browsing History, downloads, and everything on your computer separate so it divides everything into bits.

Binary digit, or bit for short, is the smallest unit of measurement that is being used to measure data. Bits that are grouped together in 8-bit clusters are called "bytes".
