The rate of change of a function refers to its first derivative which is used to find the instantaneous slope. Since the graph is a linear equation, the slope will be the same at all points, therefore we can use rise over run to find the average slope.

The graph appears to go up about 35 miles every day, so the answer is 35 miles per day.
