Read the following paragraph. What best describes the author's point of view regarding the American colonies? The British crown and Parliament have oppressed the American colonists for too long. It is time for we Americans to rise up and take back our freedom. Freedom from unfair taxes under the guise that the money is being raised only for our own protection. Freedom from laws that stifle our economic independence. How dare Parliament enact laws and impose taxes on us when we have no say in making those laws and taxes. I say it's time to break the chains of British government. It is time to form our own government. A. The American colonies should have no connection to the British. B. The American colonies already have a superior government to the British. C. The American colonies should never have to pay taxes. D. The American colonies have the right to separate from Great Britain.

D. has to be the answer because the author states that they should rise up and take back their freedom. The author also states they should form their own government.
