Acute radiation syndrome or ARS the name given to a group of signs and symptoms that develop after the total body (or large body volume) irradiation at doses greater than 100 rads delivered over a short period of time. The Acute radiation syndrome severity is generally defined by the age, radiation type, total doses, rate of doses, part of the body irradiated and status of health.
