wolves hunt in packs because they live in packs, family packs actually. Hunting in packs makes it easier to catch big prey in order to feed them all. Hunting in big packs makes it easier to hunt, and they all rely on each other.

Wolves are social creatures.
It is easier to hunt with more pack members
To help fight off any scavengers for when they do kill.
