The term was the Iron Curtain.
The term Iron Curtain was first used by Winston Churchill who famously said that the Iron Curtain has fell over the Eastern Europe. By this he meant that many countries have fallen to communism and that they have lost their freedom and are under the influence of the Soviet Union.
