Bangladesh is susceptible to flooding due to lots of low-lying land. Although altitudes up to 105 metres above sea level occur in the northern part of the plain, most elevations are less than 10 metres above sea level. The elevations decrease in the coastal south, where the terrain is generally at sea level. This makes the coastal areas the most susceptible to flooding
