Crop is the part of the digestive system you would see in a cross-section anterior to the gizzard. The crop is a large dilation of the oesophagus and is located just outside the body cavity in the neck region. The crop stores swallowed feed and water which are then moved to the rest of the digestive tract while the gizzard is located after the proventriculus behind the left lobe of the liver. The gizzard contains hard objects that help in the disintegration of food.
