How does outsider status, or being part of a marginalized group, affect people's awareness of the impact of society on their lives? What is one reason for this effect?

Being part of a marginalized group affects people's awareness by relegating them to a secondary position. The effect of this is that it makes them feel as if they are less important than those who hold more power and privilege in society. It also denies them an equal voice in society.
