Unconditional positive regard and empathy are to resistance and transference as psychoanalysis is to client-centered therapy. Unconditional positive regard is a behavior in which parents or a humanist therapist loves and accepts an individual based on his or her personality. Also, despite the person’s mistakes, positive regard is not withdrawn.
