Hormones produced by many tissues that, among other effects, promote inflammation are prostaglandins.
Prostaglandins are actually lipid molecules with hormone-like effects, not the real hormones (because are not produced at a specific place). Prostaglandins are found within most tissues and organs, they swell the blood vessels at the injured site and open space in the capillary walls for the white blood cells to enter. Prostaglandins also regulate the constriction as well as dilation of smooth muscle cells.

Hormones produced by many tissues that, among other effects, promote inflammation are prostaglandins. Prostaglandins hormones are made by chemical reactions at the sites of tissue damage or infection, where they control processes such as inflammation, blood flow, formation of blood clots and the induction of labour.
