Getting enough calories each day is very important for proper growth and development in toddlers. A toddler ’s need for calories ( 1,000 to 1,400 each day) depends on their activity levels.

Just like in adults, carbohydrates, protein, and fat make up a toddler’s total caloric intake. Carbohydrates are toddler’s main source of calories at 45 to 65 percent. Comes second is fat at 30 to 40 percent. Five to 20 percent of his calories should be from protein.
