After menopause, the production of two pituitary hormones increases, one of this is the luteinizing hormone. During menopause the number of ovarian follicles declines and the ovaries becomes less responsive to the two hormones which are the luteinizing Hormone and the Follicle stimulating hormone. As the ovaries age and release fewer hormones, FSH and LH can no longer perform their usual functions to regulate estrogen, progesterone and testosterone.
