This was called the Patriot act

The full name is USA Patriot which stands for Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism and was an act that was implemented to fight terrorism domestically. There were many controversies because it was believed that many provisions of the act were unconstitutional.
