Kayla is building a rectangular garden in her backyard and is planning out the design on a coordinate plane where each unit represents 1 foot. The vertices of the garden are (2, 5), (2, 9), (8, 9) and (8, 5). She needs to figure out the area of her garden in order to decide how much soil to buy. What is the area of her garden in square feet? Show your work.

y's minus y's and x's minus x's.

9-5= 4
8-2= 6

These are the dimensions for your rectangle. Multiply them together.

4*6= 24

Your area is 24ft^2
