The Tariff of 1832 was a protectionist tariff in the United States. It reduced the existing tariffs to alleviate the consequences of 1828, but it was still unsatisfactory in the South, especially in South Carolina. President Andrew Jackson responded to the opposition by threatening to invade South Carolina.
