CEO refers to the highest position in an organization or company. It's like your president. CEO's are not always the owner of a company especially larger ones. With smaller ones, it's more likely that the CEO will be the owner.

They are basically responsible for all the revenue growth, all the assets and liabilities, and responsible for guiding the company.
