Parallel lines have the same slope, so the new line will have the same slope as does the given line (which you have not yet given us!). If the given line has slope m = 5, then

y-2 = 5(x-[-8]), or y-2 = 5(x+8).

alternatively, y = 2 + 5x + 40, or y = 5x + 42

Please go back, find the slope of the given line, and re-do this problem, reflecting the value of the given slope.
