A pie is cut into two equal pieces. Each of the pieces was cut into halves again and each of the smaller pieces was cut into two equal pieces. If two of the pieces of the pie are eaten what portion of the pie remains?

→When, pie is cut into two equal pieces,

If represented in terms of fraction , value of each part


=(1)/(2)

→Now, the two parts is cut into halves again, then in terms of fraction, each part will be represented as


=(1)/(2* 2)\\\\=(1)/(4)

→Now, the two parts is again,cut into halves again, then in terms of fraction, each part will be represented as


=(1)/(2* 2 * 2)\\\\=(1)/(8)

→Now, two of the pieces of the pie are eaten,which will be equal to


=(1)/(8)+(1)/(8)\\\\=(2)/(8)\\\\=(1)/(4)

⇒Portion of the pie which is remaining


=1-(1)/(4)\\\\=(3)/(4)
