How did southeast Asia’s physical geography encourage the cultivation of rice?

Southeast asian countries like Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam are located near the equator. Thus, they only have wet and dry seasons (except for the northern parts of Vietnam). Climates in the tropics are the best for growing rice because it doesn’t get as much cold and freezing as winter. Also, Philippines and Indonesia have lots of islands, and more land that could be used as rice fields.
