What type of wind affects the physical properties of nearby landforms and bodies of water

I would simply say a strong wind whether southeastery or northwesterly in the NW of North America creates stormy seas and also shapes the coast by creating capes and stacks such as are found on the Oregon coast and also on major deserts like the Sahara the wind causes the development of shifting sand dunes.
