A codon is a particular combination of three nucleotides, therefore, there a
re 64
possible combinations of the nucleotides. The codons are recognized during the process of translation by the anticodon on the tRNA. Each codon codes for a particular amino acid; the amino acids then joins to form polypeptides and eventually a protein is formed.
