When the probability is calculated based on the results of an experiment it is termed as Empirical Probability.

While, in theoretical probability no experiment is performed, the results are drawn based on our knowledge of the event.

In the given case, we do not perform the experiment , rather we use our knowledge of alphabets to find the probability.
