I think the best answer would be that Molecules from food get to cells of the brain by way of the circulatory system, but molecules from food do not get to cells of the skin by way of the circulatory system. The brain is supplied by four arteries; two carotid arteries and their branches which comprise the anterior circulation and the two vertebral arteries comprise the posterior circulation.
