A clothing store sells socks in four sizes: small, medium, large and extra-large.

The sizes are sold in the ratio of 3:5:2:1.
If the store has an inventory of 253 socks how many are medium?

. 23
. 69
. 46
. 115

115 because there are 11 part (3+5+2+1) and the medium size have 5 so: 253/11 and x 5 is 115

Dividing it by parts

3x+5x+2x+x=253

11x=253

x=253/11=23

Medium: 23*5=115
