To get the time spend outside but not playing basketball... we subtract his basketball time from the total time.

5 - 2 3/10 = 2 7/10

answer: 2 7/10

Answer:he spent 2.7 hours not playing basketball.

Explanation:

Total amount of time that Joe spent in playing basketball outside is 2 3/10 hours. Converting 2 3/10 hour to improper fraction, it becomes

23/10 hours

The total amount of time that Joe spent playing outside is 5 hours.

This means that the sum of the amount of time that Joe spent playing basket outside and the amount of time spent not playing basketball outside = 5. Therefore,

The number of hours that Joe spent NOT playing playing basketball will be

5 - 23/10 = (50 - 23)/10 = 27/10 hours = 2.7 hours
