The period in which postmodernism developed and flourished was chaotic and at times violent. In what ways does postmodern literature reflect that atmosphere? How do you think such a turbulent time could influence literature?

Answer: Post Modernism was mainly influenced by the latest events, related to war and violence.

Explanation: The post-war world was deeply moved by all the violence and chaos that the world wars (and some revolutions) left not only in society, but also in international relations between powers, and the countries considered as such: US, JAPAN, CHINA, URSS (now Russia). Society was concerned about what was going to happen after all this violence, and that is why post modern authors expressed several topics in their works, such as IRONY, INTERTEXTUALITY, FABULATION and METAFICTION, among others.
