v_y = 30sin40\°

Applying the vertical displacement equation we have to


y = (1)/(2)at^2 +v_yt +y_1

Replacing we have,


18= (1)/(2)(-9.81)t^2+30sin40t+2

Solving for t,


t = 1.189s

Through the horizontal component we can find the displacement which is given as,


d = v_x (t)
