Both metaphase and anaphase are processes of cell division.

The metaphase is the phase of cell division during which the meiotic spindle is fully formed. The chromosomes align in the centre of the metaphase plate. Hence, during the metaphase, the chromosomes are present in the centre of the cell.

During the anaphase, the chromosomes are pulled apart towards opposite poles. Hence, during the anaphase, the chromosomes align to opposite poles.
