Public policy alternatives can take a variety of approaches in order to achieve the reduction and control of pollution. The first path that can be taken is the path of persuasion, which involves exhorting people in order to urge them to control pollution.
The second approach includes direct control over the people in terms of pollution control, sometimes dubbed the command and control approach, which induces strict and stringent steps against anyone caught spreading pollution. The third relies on incentives, so that people may not pollute in order to get some sort of rewards, which may pull them away from polluting.
