Answer: 1) whatever hereditary movement, in other words whatever division within the Church (so-called heretics had sometimes support of kings and emperor, in such a case pope felt really threatened/there were also periods of double/tripple papacy which was also a threat), 2) barbarian or pagan movements or religious movements from other cultures (Turks, Arabs as Muslims), 3) two much power in the hands of secular leaders, kings, queens, 4) they were afraid of the expansion of protestantism.
