Describe how the consumers in one level of the pyramid obtain energy from the organisms at the

previous level of the pyramid.

In a pyramid, consumers shown on a level of a pyramid will feed on the organism mentioned on the previous level. Hence, by feeding on the organism on the previous level, the consumers at each level will receive energy. However, most of the energy is lost at each trophic level and very little gets transferred from one trophic level to another.

Approximately, 10% of the energy is transferred from one trophic level to another. Rest is lost.
