40 girls and boys have planed for annual function. they are in a ratio of 2 girls to 6 . How many boys are there ?

Explanation:

Let g represent the number of girls

and b represent the number of boys

they are in a ratio of 2 girls to 6

then the number of girls = two sixth the number of boys

then g=(2/6)b

since 40 = g + b then 40 = (2/6)b + b then 40= (8/6)b

then b=(6/8)×40 then b=(40×6)÷8=30.
