Explanation: Tempera paint was the main medium used the painters in the Renaissance period verses older periods of time where Oil paints were used more often. One of the major benefits to moving towards using tempera paint was much smaller waiting times. Although in some places Oil paints still remained popular, and they still are to this day. For the most part Tempera paints have been taken over by acrylic paints in modern day.
